Acceptable Use Policy
Guidelines for content you upload and how you use the service.

SmilePlease is designed to help parents create beautiful school portraits of their children. This policy explains what content is allowed and prohibited to ensure a safe experience for everyone.
By using SmilePlease, you agree to follow these guidelines. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban.
Permitted use
SmilePlease is intended for:
- Parents and legal guardians uploading photos of their own children for personal portrait creation.
- Adults uploading photos of themselves for personal portrait creation.
- Schools and organizations with proper authorization to create portraits for enrolled students (with parental consent).
Prohibited content
You may not upload content that:
Illegal content
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexualized images of minors
- Content that violates any applicable law
- Evidence of crimes or illegal activities
Harmful content
- Content depicting violence, abuse, or harm to any person
- Sexually explicit or pornographic material
- Content promoting self-harm, eating disorders, or dangerous activities
- Graphic or disturbing imagery
Unauthorized images
- Photos of people without their consent (or parental consent for minors)
- Photos of children you are not the parent or legal guardian of
- Copyrighted images you don't have rights to use
- Photos stolen from social media or other sources
Hateful content
- Content promoting hate, discrimination, or violence against any group
- Extremist, terrorist, or hate group imagery
- Slurs, symbols, or messaging targeting protected characteristics
AI-specific prohibitions
Because SmilePlease uses AI to generate portrait variations, additional restrictions apply:
Deepfakes and impersonation
- No impersonation: Do not upload photos with intent to create images impersonating another person without their consent.
- No deceptive use: Generated portraits may not be used to deceive others about a person's identity, appearance, or actions.
- No fake documentation: Portraits may not be used to create fraudulent IDs, credentials, or official documents.
Manipulation and exploitation
- Do not use AI-generated portraits to harass, bully, embarrass, or harm any person.
- Do not create or distribute non-consensual intimate imagery of any person.
- Do not use portraits of minors in any context that could exploit or endanger them.
Misrepresentation
- Do not claim AI-generated portraits are authentic photographs when disclosure would be material (e.g., journalism, legal proceedings).
- Do not use portraits in political advertising, propaganda, or disinformation campaigns.
- Do not use portraits to create fake social media profiles or personas.
Examples of violations
To clarify our policies, here are specific examples of prohibited activities:
- Violation: Uploading a photo from your ex-partner's social media to create portraits of their child without their knowledge.
- Violation: Creating a portrait of a celebrity or public figure to use in marketing materials.
- Violation: Using a generated portrait as a profile photo on a dating app while claiming it's a real photograph.
- Violation: Creating portraits of a classmate without their family's consent.
- Permitted: Parent uploading their child's photo to create school portraits for grandparents.
- Permitted: Adult creating their own portrait for personal use.
Responsible use
In addition to content restrictions, you agree not to:
- Attempt to access other users' photos, accounts, or data.
- Reverse engineer, copy, or extract our AI models or technology.
- Use automated tools to bulk-upload photos or overwhelm our systems.
- Circumvent security measures, rate limits, or access controls.
- Resell, redistribute, or commercialize the service without authorization.
- Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code.
- Interfere with other users' ability to use the service.
Report a violation
If you believe someone is violating this policy or misusing SmilePlease, please report it immediately:

Please include:
- Description of the violation
- Any relevant screenshots or evidence
- URL or identifier if available
- Your contact information (optional)
All reports are reviewed promptly. We may contact you for additional information.
Reporting to authorities
We are required by federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A) to report any apparent child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). We will cooperate fully with law enforcement in the investigation of any suspected illegal activity.
Enforcement
We take violations seriously. Depending on severity and frequency, we may take the following actions:
- Content removal: Prohibited content will be deleted immediately.
- Warning: First-time or minor violations may result in a warning.
- Account suspension: Repeated or serious violations may result in temporary suspension.
- Permanent ban: Severe violations (especially involving minors) will result in permanent account termination.
- Legal action: Illegal content will be reported to law enforcement authorities.
We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts at our discretion, even for violations not explicitly listed here.
Appeals
If you believe your content was removed or your account was suspended in error, you may appeal by emailing appeals@smileplease.app. Include your account email and a brief explanation. We will review appeals within 5 business days.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as laws, technology, or our service evolve. Significant changes will be announced via email or on our website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
